Blijburg aan Zee
Bert Haanstrakade (416 03 30).
Sandy beach about 250 meters long and 40 meters wide, located on IJburg island. Blijburg has a true beach feel to it due to the unobstructed view of the large IJsselmeer lake. It has a pleasant beach bar and restaurant, and a nice campfire in the evening. DJ's during the weekends. Take tramline 26 from Central Station, and if you're having a really good time bus 359 will take you back after midnight.

Strand West
Stavangerweg 900 (682 63 10).
Large sandy beach with a panoramic view of the river IJ, sadly without swimming possibilities. Deckchairs, hammocks and beanbags for rent. Many sports facilities, like beach volley, soccer and table tennis, and lots of activities for children. Large restaurant with cocktail/lounge bar. Take bus 48 or 22 from Central Station, get off at stop Spaarndammerstraat.

Strand Zuid
Europaplein 22 (544 59 70).
An upmarket city beach close to the RAI convention center, with elegant beach furniture and a nice bar. It borders the Beatrix park pond, no swimming is allowed but showers are available. DJ's during the weekends. Take tramline 4 from Central Station, stop Europaplein.
Open daily 10am-midnight.
