This bar-restaurant on a quiet little square is part of the Flemish Cultural Centre which, in the same building, also houses a theater and a gallery. During summer, the square transforms into an enjoyable and sunny terrace. Flanders being a part of Belgium, the Brakke Grond is famous for its large selection of Belgian beers, and of course for its Flemish cuisine.
Open noon-1am (2am weekends).

Started out as a 'literary cafe' in the seventies but the focus has shifted to music and food. Decent kitchen, moderately priced. Popular live jazz jam-session every Sunday from 4-7pm.

Cosy and intimate, a real neighborhood hangout. On the menu various 'lentini'; small dishes, largely Mediterranean in origin. Excellent place to while away some time.

Kapitein Zeppos

Spacious and airy bar-restaurant Kapitein Zeppos was named after a famous Belgian television star of the '60s. Divided into a bar area with a stage, and a restaurant area with a glass roof that can be opened on warm sunny days. Zeppos also has a cobblestone courtyard which makes a very pleasant terrace. Live music every Sunday, the highlight being the monthly cabaret.

Kitchen noon-4pm & 6pm-11pm.
