Continuation of The Amstel Taveerne, the first gay bar in the Amstel area. Judging by the large - mixed - crowds it attracts, it's still very popular. Especially pleasant during summer when everyone spills out onto the sidewalk lining the Amstel river. Be prepared for some camp Dutch sing-a-long.

Small split-level gay bar with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Good, inexpensive food and snacks with a large selection of (English) magazines and newspapers. Attractive sidewalk terrace during summer.

As gay bars in the Rembrandtplein area go this is a lively place with a young and boisterous crowd. Brush up on your Eurovision Songfestival lyrics! Don't show up to early if you want to be in the thick of the action, this is a night bar so it tends to get busy after the surrounding bars close.
Open daily 9pm-3/4pm, Sun 3pm-3am.

A gay bar in camp Apres Ski style - predominantly male though women admitted - that caters to a trendy young public, and can get cruisey on weekends.

Trendy bar-restaurant Getto with its fabulous kitsch interior has a more intimate restaurant area at the back and a hip bar at the front. Delicious meals include some great vegetarian dishes. Friendly atmosphere. Cocktail happy hour from 5pm to 7pm, DJ's during the weekends.

Lellebel
Utrechtsestraat 4 (427 51 39).
Close to the Rembrandtplein, Lellebel is Amsterdam's most popular drag bar. During the weekend you can expect performances by the likes of Desiree Dello Stiletto and Babette Lafayatte. Happy hour on Sunday from 8pm to 10pm.

One of the popular gay haunts, right on Rembrandt square. Maybe not the most sophisticated, but it's open all day, and it's a good place for breakfast and lunch as well as dinner.
