Frank house. The historic canalside building has recently been renovated
and offers all the modern facilities, with 38 rooms all with private bathing
facilities, cable TV and telephone. Some rooms have a canal view or balcony.

Large, lived-in rooms full of character with Dutch (sturdy wooden) furniture and dark wooden paneling. Most have en suite facilities. Parkzicht has a few doubles overlooking the Vondelpark. Closed between November and March! Rates double €75-€85.

Winston
Hotel Warmoesstraat 123-129 (623 13 80 / fax 639 23 08).  This
66-room hotel is on one of the bustling streets of the Red Light district,
so centrally located but a bit noisy at night. This is not just a place
to sleep but, as Winston puts it, 'this is art, not in frames, but eyeing
you everywhere you turn'. Indeed Winston is seeking sponsorship to be able
to commission artists to decorate the rooms. So far eight 'art rooms' are
offered. The Winston International
